Facing the recent elections in Costa Rica, in which an authoritarian sexual harasser was elected as president, four women filmmakers made this collective letter in response to the questions and reflections that this political process aroused in us. In our country the wound of abuse is open, but our voices will never be silenced again.

Maricarmen Merino is a Costa Rican filmmaker. She lived and studied film in Mexico City. She has directed both fiction and documentary films. Her work explores the thin divide between universal, personal and political themes. Her broad movie-making experience in various capacities gives her a wholistic understanding of film. She has worked as a director, editor, producer, actress and sound technician in a wide range of projects.
